Even during championship week, Penn State keeps eyes on recruiting

Penn State safeties coach Tim Banks wants his players to balance the need to stop the run with the need to protect against the play-action pass. But he and the rest of the Nittany Lions coaching staff have their own juggling act this week.

While preparing for the Big Ten championship Saturday is the main focus, this time of year is important for recruiting.

“It’s a big challenge because, obviously, you’ve got to be able to take care of business with our own team and concentrate on trying to win this game, but you’ve also got to have the ability to look toward the future, work with some guys that we’re heavily involved with in terms of the recruiting process,” Banks said Thursday.
