Pitt, Penn State, WVU maintain satisfactory Academic Progress Rate

By Audrey Snyder / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The NCAA released its annual Academic Progress Rate this afternoon, and all local Division I teams scored well enough to avoid penalties.

Used to measure four years of data, APR gauges eligibility, graduation and retention rates of scholarship athletes. No local teams face level one, two, three or postseason ineligibility penalties. Nationwide, scores for football and men’s basketball teams increased.

Penn State football (956), Penn State men’s basketball (970) and Pitt football (963) all increased their APR by two points, keeping the programs well above the NCAA minimum multiyear score of 930.
