Franklin says Penn State offensive line has 'chip' on its shoulder

CHICAGO — If Penn State’s offensive line is looking for any more bulletin board material headed into this season, James Franklin says bring it.

“Going through it is never fun, but I do think they will be better because of that experience,” Franklin said today at Big Ten media days. “I think our offensive line has a chip on their shoulder.”

Penn State surrendered 44 sacks last season, and because of scholarship limitations stemming from the NCAA sanctions and compounded by injures, the Nittany Lions struggled to put together a two-deep of scholarship linemen.

This season, however Penn State returns four starters along the line and will need to lock down the starting left tackle spot in camp.
