Stagg grad Brooks ready to lead hometown team

STOCKTON – Wayne Brooks hasn’t taken a snap in a football game for nearly four years.

That’s not how the 20-year-old quarterback envisioned how his life would go after his senior season at Stagg High.

“I felt like I was going to go to a big school,” Brooks said. “I was going to a (Division I college) somewhere, but it didn’t happen.”

In 2013, Brooks had a marvelous high school senior season: 2,258 yards and 31 touchdowns through the air, 753 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, a 10-2 overall record and an undefeated Tri-City Athletic League title, thanks in large part to a thrilling win over St.
