Better to win ugly than to lose ugly

STOCKTON – Pacific men’s basketball coach Damon Stoudamire summed up Thursday’s game with Sacramento State in one word: “Ugly.”

The Tigers beat the Hornets 74-58 in front of 2,094 at Spanos Center, but it wasn’t easy. In fact, to Stoudamire, “that 58 felt like a hundred (points) because they put so much pressure on us.”

Ultimately, as Pacific’s first-year head coach pointed out, “You can always say that it feels better to get better winning than to try and get better losing.”

T.J. Wallace scored a game-high 19 points and Ray Bowles had 17 for the Tigers (3-3) who improved to 3-0 at home.
