CHICAGO — Wanted: A defensive partner for Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson.
Pierre Dorion won’t be placing an ad to try to find somebody to take Marc Methot’s spot beside Karlsson next season, but the Senators’ general manager will study all options in trying to find a replacement after Methot was claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League expansion draft.
With trade talk heating up before Round 1 of the NHL entry draft Friday night at the United Center, Dorion planned to sniff around in case anyone who might fit the bill was available, and there’s no question he’ll be busy on the phone Sunday, when the interview period for unrestricted free agents begins.
