Senators' Stone, Hoffman return to practice, unlikely to play

RALEIGH, N.C. — There were a couple of familiar faces back on the ice with the Senators on Thursday afternoon at PNC Arena.

Whether either of them will suit up Friday night is unlikely, but Senators fans were breathing a sigh of relief anyway.

After leaving Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets with injuries, high-scoring wingers Mark Stone (neck) and Mike Hoffman (groin) were both back with the Senators for their 30-minute skate in preparation for the Carolina Hurricanes, but no decision has been made on whether they’ll play.

While neither Stone or Hoffman ruled out the possibility of playing against the Hurricanes, coach Guy Boucher indicated there’s pretty much no chance that Hoffman will suit up and while Stone might be available the Senators want to make sure both players are fully recovered.
