Senators penalty kill needs to improve in a hurry

There is an easy solution for the Senators’ struggling penalty-killing units to stop opposition power plays.

“Take away the other team’s sticks?” Senators goaltender Craig Anderson deadpanned Friday on the subject of the Senators’ dismal short-handed play.

In all seriousness, it has gone from bad to ugly. On Thursday, the Edmonton Oilers went 3-for-3 with the man advantage, part of a 10-game stretch which has seen the Senators kill off only 13 of 30 opportunities.

“We’re going to tweak it a little bit, but it’s still going to come down to the execution of it,” said Senators coach Dave Cameron.
