Senators got some skill, speed and goaltending with draft picks

CHICAGO - Like everybody else, the Ottawa Senators were wearing wide smiles as they packed their bags left the draft table Saturday afternoon.

The mission, when the club arrived in the Windy City, was to restock the shelves with prospects and, though they won’t find out for five years if it was indeed a success, but judging by the initial reaction the Senators were pretty pleased with their selections.

After taking centre Shane Bowers No. 28 in Round 1 Friday night, the club picked winger Norm Formenton in Round 2, centre Drake Batherson from Cape Breton (QMJHL) in Round 4 and completed the day in Round 6 with the selection of goaltender Jordan Hollett, who will suit up for Medicine Hat in the WHL next season.
