NHL coach breaks down Senators-Rangers series

Judging by the expert opinions, there’s no reason for the Ottawa Senators to even bother with this Round 2 series against the New York Rangers.

In the eyes of the many, the Senators don’t stand a chance.

Not so fast, says an Eastern Conference coach enlisted by Postmedia to break down the best-of-seven series that gets under way Thursday night with Game 1 at the Canadian Tire Centre. The coach took a look at the matchup and believes the Senators have a good chance of getting the job done.

While the Rangers are considered the heavy favourites because they play in the more difficult Metropolitan Division, New York finished with only four more points (102) than the 98 the Senators amassed during the regular season.
