Chris Kelly always believed he had fully recovered from the broken left femur that ended his 2015-16 season in November. But now, after the leg was tested by Max McCormick during Day 1 of Senators training camp, he knows it.
“I was happy to (get hit),” said Kelly. “Everything is good.”
When someone joked that McCormick is out for his job, that he wants to be the next Chris Kelly, it was met with a predictable, self-deprecating response.
“He’s got to shoot higher than that,” said Kelly. “That’s not a good goal to have. There’s got to be a better player.
