Ottawa Senators hope worst is behind Melnyk

Eugene Melnyk is on the road to recovery.

A day after undergoing an eight-hour liver transplant surgery, the Senators' owner was unable to speak because he's still weak, but team president Cyril Leeder said the 55-year-old Melnyk was doing well when Senators' alternate governors Ken Villazor and Sheldon Plenner stopped by for a visit Wednesday.

Officials at the Toronto General Hospital -- including the doctors who performed the procedure on Wednesday -- will provide a full update on Melnyk and some information on the anonymous donor when they hold a press conference Thursday morning at 11 a.
