Stan Van Gundy fired by the Orlando Magic

It is no surprise after an underachieving season that the Orlando Magic have let go of head coach Stan Van Gundy. After a midseason fiasco in which star center Dwight Howard demanded Van Gundy's removal it became clear that something had to be changed in the locker room.

While Howard asked the Magic to fire Van Gundy, it is not clear whether or not Howard has any intention of staying with the Magic after this season. Howard voiced his displeasure with the Magic multiple times this season, asking for a change. Sources close to Howard have indicated that Howard wants to move to either Brooklyn or Los Angeles.

Dwight is under contract with the Magic for the 2012-2013 season, but he could be moved this summer in a blockbuster deal.  If the Magic wait to move him next season they run the risk of losing him to free agency.

In addition to the firing of Van Gundy, the Magic have also let go of their General Manager Otis Smith.

While a new administration will take over in Orlando, it is not clear what the future holds for star center Dwight Howard and where he will play in the upcoming season.
