CORVALLIS -- Blake Brandel used to have trouble bulking up.

But during the 2016 season, when players typically lose weight, the Oregon State offensive tackle gained 10 pounds. Then during the offseason, he added another 15 pounds to up his weight to about 325.

"It's kind of like a second puberty or something like that," Brandel said with a laugh last week. "I've been eating normal and everything. I just gained another 15 pounds. I'm like 'Oh, this is great.'"

Brandel's growing frame could prove beneficial. The sophomore is now suddenly one of the more experienced members of a Beavers new-look offensive line facing questions as fall camp begins Tuesday.
