EUGENE, Ore. – Scotland Church struck out six in a career-long 6 1/3 innings of relief and 10th-ranked Oregon State nearly overcame a seven-run deficit in a 7-6 loss to Oregon Wednesday night at PK Park.

The Beavers, down 7-5 entering the ninth inning, nearly rallied to tie the game. Trevor Larnach walked with one down. Caleb Hamilton, pinch running for him, scored when Christian Donahue singled to right and the ball got past right fielder Jakob Goldfarb for a two-base error.

Oregon closer Stephen Nogosek, however, managed to get Nick Madrigal to pop up to first for the second out the inning.
