Oregon Football Rumors Roundup: The Latest Following Loss To Washington State

The Oregon Ducks have fallen from their perch atop the Pac-12 after a disappointing loss to Washington State last weekend, but they're looking to get their season back on track this Saturday at Washington. Here's the latest surrounding the Oregon football program:

Chris Petersen expects Vernon Adams Jr. to play this weekend

Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams has essentially missed the last four games with a finger injury, but Washington head coach Chris Petersen said his team is preparing for Adams to start:

"He's been out for a while. I know he's been throwing, and those type of things," Petersen said, via SeattlePI.com. "But we again can't really get hung up on that. That has nothing to do with us. They're going to run their system. I mean, I don't think it really changes. There might be some different plays they emphasize with him, but it all looks the same to me."

Oregon defense plans to rotate "a lot of guys" against Washington

Oregon's defense has been one of the worst in the country this season, particularly at getting pressure on the quarterback. Defensive coordinator Don Pellum said the Ducks plan to rotate a lot of linemen to try and fix that issue against the Huskies:

“If we have the opportunity to continue to rotate a lot of guys, if freshness helps get closer to the quarterback, if it helps us get off blocks and run better, then that’s something we really need to continue to look at,” he said.

Senior defensive end DeForest Buckner put the blame more on the players themselves, saying they need to win more one-on-one battles:

“There are times where I get double-teamed or sometimes triple-teamed when the running back helps the guard or the tackle,” Buckner said. “If that’s happening, guys with one-on-ones need to win. We have guys getting free, and I’m glad they’re producing off of me taking up three blocks. Guys need to know what the situation is. There were some guys that were just blowing coverages, biting on short routes when they should have been giving depth. Stuff like that we need to just clean up.”
