The Mets were linked to Jay Bruce earlier this offseason and are willing to offer the former Met a three-year deal, even though he is seeking a five-year deal.

However, a couple of other teams are swooping in and trying to lure Bruce away from the Big Apple. The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays have both expressed interest in the past couple of days, according to multiple reports.

Bruce hit .254 with 36 home runs and 101 RBIs while playing for both the Mets and Cleveland Indians last season.

Latest on Matt Harvey
The Mets were looking to trade starting pitcher Matt Harvey, but after new manager Mickey Callaway went to general manager Sandy Alderson and expressed a desire to keep him, they are no longer looking to trade him, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Harvey went 5-7 with a 6.70 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 19 appearances last season, including eight starts.Harvey

Mets interested in Starlin Castro
New York has a need a second base, and with the Miami Marlins shopping Starlin Castro after acquiring him from the New York Yankees in the Giancarlo Stanton trade, the Mets are interested in acquiring him, according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News.

A Mets team source confirmed to the News on Saturday that once the Stanton deal is finalized, the club will check in with the Marlins about Castro to possibly fill their second base vacancy.

Castro hit .300 with 16 home runs and 63 RBIs in 112 games last season.
