Nice Guys Finish First In This Oregon Football News Update

The Oregon Ducks, if you believe the hype, have the nicest starting quarterback in the history of college football in Heisman hopeful Marcus Mariota.

However, despite his almost-instinctual politeness and quiet nature, Mariota's passion remains a driving force for a team pushing toward an invitation to the first-ever College Football Playoff.

"It's kind of my nature, I guess," the junior quarterback stated, via Ralph D. Russo of the Associated Press. "That's one of my teammates and someone that's been a friend of mine for a few years now. Whenever you see someone go down, it doesn't matter which team it is, it's tough. It's kind of part of the game, but you want to hope that they're OK. For me, I just wanted to make sure he was all right."

Quiet or not, Mariota has commanded the attention of both the Autzen Stadium faithful and the nation with both his steadiness and dynamic skill set.

"Saint Marcus they call him around here," Nico Avila said, a 21-year-old senior going to Oregon.

If he continues on his current track, what he'll bring to the fans of the University of Oregon will likely feel like a religious experience.
