2016 NCAA Tournament Preview: Oregon Ducks

Oregon won the Pac-12 regular season title for the first time since 2002, but they’re focused on making the Final Four for the first time since 1939. Here’s everything you need to know about the Ducks:

Resume:
Record – 27-6 (14-4 in Pac-12)
RPI – 3
Strength of Schedule – 5

Starting Lineup:
G Casey Benson (So.) – 5.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg
G Tyler Dorsey (Fr.) – 13.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg

F Elgin Cook (Sr.) – 14.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg
F Dillon Brooks (So.) - 16.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg
F Chris Boucher (Sr.) – 12.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg

Key Player:
Dillon Brooks

Brooks has been a big reason why the Ducks have become one of the best teams in the country this year. He's extremely versatile at 6'6" and 225 lbs, showing the ability to both finish around the rim and hit his jump shot consistently (47.2 percent shooter). Brooks is also an excellent decision maker, averaging three points per game.

Biggest Strength:
Offensively efficiency

Oregon’s basketball team has taken some notes from their football team, choosing to play a wide open, spread offensive system with four perimeter players on the country at one time. The result is a lot of open driving lanes which leads to easy baskets and the 11th most efficient offense in the country.

Biggest Weakness:
Three-point shooting

As good as the Ducks are everywhere else on the floor, they are one of the worst teams in the country when shooting from long range. They shoot just 34 percent from three-point land as a team (205th in country).

Outlook:
Oregon should be a Final Four contender depending on the draw they get in their region. They have a respectable defense, their offense is one of the best in the country, and they’re coming into the tournament on an eight game win streak. I don’t think they’re a national title contender because of their lack of shooting, but they will definitely make it to at least the second weekend.
