Ninth-ranked Kevin Beazley took down No. 10 Shawn Scott at 197 pounds, lifting the Old Dominion wrestling team to a 22-9 win over Northern Illinois on Tuesday night.
The Monarchs (1-3, 1-1 Mid-American) picked up five straight wins over the Huskies (2-2, 0-1) from 165 to 285 pounds in earning their first dual-meet victory of the season.
Oscar Smith High grad Seldon Wright, ranked 15th at 165 pounds, won by a 17-8 major decision over the Huskies’ Andrew Scott. The Monarchs’ Jack Dechow, ranked 13th at 184, scored a 6-1 decision over Bryce Norman.
Alex Madrigal (133), Emilio Saavedra (141), Antonio Agee (174) and Will Hilliard (285) also notched wins for ODU.
