Jackie Stroud scored two goals off headers, Carla Morich had three assists, and the Old Dominion women’s soccer team beat George Mason 4-1 on Friday in the season opener for both.
Taking a feed from Morich, Iris Achterhof beat the keeper in the 17th minute for the lone tally of the first half, and Daniela Neves equalized for the Patriots on a free kick in the 52nd.
Stroud netted the winner off an Achterhof corner kick in the 63rd, and Kira Laurento padded the lead off a rebound about four minutes later. Stroud iced the win in the 83rd.
