Sophomore defender Jimmy Filerman scored in the 15th minute, lifting the Old Dominion men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over No. 13 Virginia in an exhibition Tuesday night.
Filerman slipped a shot into the lower right corner for ODU, which was outshot 19-4. Mertcan Akar made seven saves for the Monarchs.
ODU hosts George Mason in another exhibition Saturday and hosts Appalachian State in its season opener Aug. 25.
