Cowboys end conference slide with victory against Texas Tech

It took them 343 days, but the Cowboys finally earned a Big 12 victory.

Oklahoma State defeated Texas Tech 83-64 on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas, for its first conference victory of the season, ending a six-game skid to start Big 12 play this year and a 12-game skid dating to the past year’s injury-plagued season.

The Cowboys' last Big 12 victory came Feb. 13 when a Jeff Newberry-led squad defeated Kansas State 55-51.

Thanks to the hot shooting of senior Phil Forte and junior Jeffrey Carroll, the Cowboys held a double-digit lead for most of the game, which grew to a 21-point advantage with five minutes left in the first half.
