Former Norman standout George Kittle drafted by the 49ers in fifth round

Former Norman High School standout George Kittle was picked in the fifth round by the San Francisco 49ers.

Kittle, a tight end, was the 146th overall pick.

Kittle was the first Oklahoma high school product selected in this year’s draft and the first Norman High pick since Ryan Broyles in the 2012 second round.

Kittle (6-foot-4, 247 pounds) steadily progressed at Iowa, where his father Bruce played alongside Bob Stoops.

Limited by a foot injury the latter half of last season, he still finished with 22 catches for 314 yards and four touchdowns.
