DeBerry hoping move inside pays off

NORMAN—Oklahoma linebacker Ricky DeBerry just wants to be a regular in the candy store.

DeBerry, a redshirt sophomore, is making the transition from outside to inside linebacker this spring in hopes of finding more playing time after playing just six games last season.

When DeBerry went home to Virginia after the Sugar Bowl win over Auburn, he continued a conversation with his dad that had started earlier in the season about the possibility of moving inside.

Pass rushing, DeBerry said, wasn't his strong suit and with Ogbonnia Okoronkwo having one outside spot locked down and Caleb Kelly looking like a breakout star at the other outside spot, playing time figured to be sparse if he remained at the same position.
