Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State Preview and Prediction

The Oklahoma Sooners wrap up their regular season schedule with a game against rival Oklahoma State.

With both teams well out of the race for the Big 12, this game will come down to a battle for bragging rights, as the Sooners try to make it three straight wins over the Cowboys.

Records:

Oklahoma: 8-3 (5-3 Big 12)

Oklahoma State: 5-6 (3-5 Big 12)

Last Meeting: Oklahoma won 33-24 in 2013

Oklahoma Outlook: The Sooners lost all three games against ranked opponents, dismantling their chances at a Big 12 title.

Despite the struggle in big games, Oklahoma's offense has plenty to be proud of, as they boast a top-20 ranking in both points (39.3) and rushing yards (265.4) per game.

Freshman Samaje Perine rushed for 1,428 yards and 19 touchdowns, including an FBS record 427 yards in a single game.

Oklahoma State Outlook: The Cowboys put together a disappointing season after starting out 5-1. They have lost five straight since then, and sit in the seventh spot in the Big 12 standings.

A usually prolific offense faltered this season on their way to just 232.3 passing yards per game and 26.5 points per contest.

The Cowboys are trying to put together a competitive game versus Oklahoma, as they have lost by at least 21 points in every game of their current losing streak.

What to watch for: What will Oklahoma's Perine do for an encore? After setting the single-game rushing record, Perine comes into this matchup as one of the hottest players in the nation.

The Cowboys will have to focus on slowing him down and forcing the Sooners to find success through the air.

Prediction:

Oklahoma - 38, Oklahoma State - 20

The Sooners have too much offense for the Cowboys to keep up with at this point in the season. Oklahoma State can stay competitive, but looking for an upset will be difficult with offensive struggles they've encountered.
