Oklahoma baseball: Sooners miss NCAA postseason for second consecutive year

NORMAN — Oklahoma baseball coach Pete Hughes was hoping for a miracle Monday when the pairings for NCAA regionals were announced.

But the Sooners (34-27) were left out of the postseason for the second consecutive spring.

The Sooners made improvements in Hughes’ second season — going from 29-29 in 2014 — but halfway into his original four-year contract, OU has to make improvements next year.

That won’t be easy given the players leaving or expected to leave this year.

OU will lose three key seniors — weekend starter and first baseman Robert Tasin, outfielder Taylor Alspaugh and third baseman Joshua Ake.
