3 Reasons Why Oklahoma Is Guaranteed To Beat Texas

When we were asked to predict the winner in this week's Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Longhorns showdown, we thought it was a joke. Really?!? Is there any doubt? Here's 3 Reasons Why Oklahoma Is Guaranteed To Beat Texas.

1. Baker Mayfield

The Texas Longhorns were routinely gashed by TCU QB Trevone Boykin in the team's 50-7 loss last week. Who in their right mind thinks that the Horns' secondary is going to figure things out and improve against one of the rising QB stars in the nation? If Mayfield doesn't throw for four touchdowns or more, it's an upset.

2. The Entire Offense, In Fact

The Sooners are currently ranked 12th in the nation in total offense (521.8 yards per game) and tied for 10th in scoring (42.0 points). Mayfield's a big part of that, but there's also Sterling Shepard, Samaje Perine and a host of other explosive weapons. Remember that whole 50-7 TCU/Texas scoreline we were talking about before?

This will be worse.

3. The Charlie Strong Mess

Players are calling each other out. The locker room appears to be divided in Austin. Nothing about Charlie Strong's year-plus with Texas has worked so far. All they've gotten out of his tenure is a rapid restructuring of the team's scholarship roster and a reputation as THE big-program flop right now (Michigan and Florida have left that list.) The Red River Shootout won't be competitive, but at least Oklahoma fans will get to watch their rivals' program blown apart in a poof of controversy.
