The Oklahoma City Thunder's contract extension talks with guard Reggie Jackson ended on Friday without an accord being reached between the two parties.

Per sources cited by Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, "Jackson is determined to pursue restricted free agency as a means to hunt a starting job in the NBA."

"Jackson has been described as eager to get on the market next summer, out of All-Star Russell Westbrook’s shadow and prove his value as a frontline NBA point guard," Wojnarowski added.

With Oklahoma City investing the house in their core of star players, NBA executives believe Jackson will have a major advantage finding a new home come July of next year.

“Bottom line,” one NBA general manager told Yahoo Sports, “how much are they willing to pay for Westbrook’s backup?”

If Jackson can prove his worth as a starter over the next few weeks or so as Russell Westbrook recovers from a broken hand, he could easily command $13-14 million from a team determined to pry him away from OKC by pushing up the valuable guard's sticker price.

Stay tuned.
