For a man who is 6 feet 5 and 274 pounds, Jalyn Holmes showed on Sept. 17 he can scoot. Or maybe it was just an adrenaline rush.
Whatever the reason, after he tipped a pass that Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker intercepted and returned 68 yards for a touchdown in a 45-24 win over Oklahoma, Holmes almost beat Baker to the end zone.
Holmes also seemed to be celebrating the last 30 yards as Baker gave the Buckeyes their fourth interception return for a TD in the first three games.
“I think I was more happy than he was; really, that’s the funny thing,” Holmes said.
