Ohio State's 3 Most Likely Bowl Destinations This Year

The Ohio State Buckeyes will not to return to the College Football Playoff after losing to Michigan State, but at 11-1, Ohio State will still be going to a New Year's Six bowl. Here are the three places they're most likely to end up:

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (At-Large vs. At-Large)
Thursday, December 31, Noon ET
Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA

This is the least likely of Ohio State's potential New Year's Six scenarios. A matchup against Florida State would be very intriguing and Atlanta would be a great destination for the Buckeyes, but they're more likely to be sent out west.

Fiesta Bowl (At-Large vs. At-Large)
Fri., Jan. 1, 1:00 pm ET
Univ. of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ

The Big Ten's New Year's Six slot is given to the Rose Bowl, so if the Buckeyes miss out on that in favor of Iowa or Michigan State, they'd end up in Arizona. Ohio State has been to the Fiesta Bowl four times before, with the latest coming in 2009.

Rose Bowl (Big Ten vs. Pac-12)
Fri., Jan. 1, 5:00 pm ET
Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA

Assuming nothing crazy happens at the top of the rankings, the Rose Bowl is where Ohio State will likely end up. Since it's not the site of a playoff semifinal this year, the Rose Bowl will return to the traditional format of Big Ten vs. Pac-12, and playing in "The Granddaddy of Them All" would be a nice consolation prize to missing the playoff. They would likely face Stanford, giving them a marquee matchup to look forward to.
