Ohio State Football Recruiting: Buckeyes In Top 3 For DT Target, 4-Star DE To Flip Commitment?

The college football season doesn't start for roughly two months, giving the Ohio State Buckeyes plenty of time to focus on recruiting. They have taken advantage of that time, and it's already paid off with 14 commitments - but the Buckeyes are far from done. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Ohio State football recruiting

Buckeyes make top three for DT target
Four-star defensive tackle Jay Tufele (South Jordan, UT) has narrowed his decision to three schools, and revealed those finalists to 247sports:

"The three that are leading right now are probably Michigan, Ohio State and Utah," Tufele said. "I'm going to take all five of my official visits for sure. Whatever comes from that, I'll be making my final decision on signing day.

"[Offensive line] coach [Larry] Johnson, me and him have been talking for a while. He's an amazing guy. He came out to the All-Poly Camp just to be with me. And I really appreciate it. Coach (Urban) Meyer, he's an amazing guy too. They're on the top right now (of college football)."

The 6'3", 300-pounder is ranked as the No. 3 defensive tackle and No. 51 overall prospect in the country.

DE target to flip commitment to Ohio State?
Four-star defensive end Hunter Echols (Los Angeles, CA) has been committed to UCLA since February, but he is still considering other schools. He plans on taking all five of his official visits this summer, and he's particularly excited about one of those - his trip to Ohio State:

“Right now (Ohio State) hasn’t officially offered me a scholarship yet,” Echols told 247sports. “But if they do offer me a scholarship that’s an official I will be taking to Ohio State because I just really like them. A matter of fact it’s really a great school. And I can fit into their defense.”

Ohio State is prioritizing five-star defensive end Chase Young (Hyattsville, MD), but they are very, very intersted in Echols - and an offer is expected to come soon. He is ranked as the No. 6 weak-side defensive end and No. 90 overall prospect in the country.
