Halftime Quick-hitters: Barrett Leads Ohio State to 30-21 Halftime Lead

The Ohio State Buckeyes host the Cincinnati Bearcats, looking to pick up a win to kick off their Big Ten schedule.

The Bearcats put up an early scare, coming out quick behind quarterback Gunner Kiel's 60 yard touchdown pass on the opening possession.

Things got out of hand after that, despite Kiel going 14/19 for 234 yards and three scores,  the rest of the Cincinnati offense did little to help out their quarterback.

Running backs Tion Green and Hosey Williams combined for 41 yards rushing on eight carries.

Chris Moore was the Bearcats leading receiver, doing all of his damage on touchdown receptions of 60 and 83 yards.

Quarterback J.T. Barrett led an opening scoring drive of his own - the first of what turned into an impressive half.

He led another scoring drive on the second possession, starting off the game by going 6/7 for 90 yards and adding 24 on the ground on those two drives combined.

The Buckeyes offense was firing on all cylinders behind Barrett's huge first half, as he finished with 179 yards passing and two scores, along with an extra 58 yards on the ground.

Running back Ezekiel Elliot rushed for 84 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown.

Stat To Keep An Eye On: The Buckeyes have not lost to a team from Ohio since 1921, a span of 44 consecutive games.
