Five-star athlete Torrance Gibson (Plantation, Florida) committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday.

Ranked #13 in the ESPN 300, Gibson is listed as an athlete but will likely play quarterback for the Buckeyes. Per ESPN's Tom VanHaaren, "that was a big part of his recruitment, and something he spoke to the coaches about extensively."

It looks like the coveted recruit will get his wish in Columbus.

"[Ohio State] is actually giving me a real shot at quarterback," he said. "If I mess up one time, they're not going to switch me to receiver or safety. They're giving me a real shot."

If he comes in as a quarterback, Gibson would be the highest nationally-ranked recruit to function as a signal caller for Urban Meyer at Ohio State. There is likely to be a logjam ahead of him, however, with JT Barrett and the returning Braxton Miller both looming at the top of the depth chart.

Regardless, Gibson is the third five-star recruit landed by Ohio State this year and the seventh ESPN 300 athlete that they've secured a commitment from.
