Buckeyes Football News: Minnesota Coach Jerry Kill Shows Respect For OSU, JT Barrett

The Ohio State Buckeyes are at the top of their game after a huge victory over the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing last Saturday. The head coach of their next opponent, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, is well aware of the tall task his team faces in an extremely confident Buckeyes squad.

“I knew they were pretty good, but that just emphasized how good they are, because I know how good Michigan State’s defense is,” Gophers coach Jerry Kill said, via John Kampf of The News-Herald. “They were able to run the ball. They were able to throw it.”

The Golden Gophers give up just 21 points and 355 yards per game. However, the Buckeyes offense, led by dynamic first-year quarterback JT Barrett, presents a much different and more dynamic challenge for Minnesota.

“I would tell you is that Braxton is very, very good,” Kill said, referencing injured QB, Braxton Miller, “but this young man, they’ve done a great job of bringing him along, and he has the same type of running ability. But he throws the ball better right now, I believe, than what Braxton did, and Braxton threw it good. But this kid’s on fire right now.”
