The Ohio Bobcats' matchup with FCS-opponent Gardner-Webb was expected to be a tune-up game for the 'Cats before conference play begins next week.
That’s exactly what unfolded Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon with Ohio (2-2, 0-0 MAC) defeating the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs (1-3, 0-0 Big South) 37-21 at Peden Stadium.
Coming into this game, Ohio ranked 122nd (out of 128 teams) in touchdown percentage on red zone possessions on offense, but against Gardner-Webb the Bobcats scored touchdowns on four out of five red zone possessions in the first half to enter halftime with a 30-7 lead.
