Uncountable elbows and shots were flung during the Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament Saturday and Sunday at the State Side Technology Park on Athens Far East Side.
The tournament, put on by the Athens Messenger, reportedly featured 243 games and a registered total of 106 teams competing for a coveted Gus Macker trophy. Many players – most, in fact – traveled to Athens from out of county or out of state to compete.
Some 13 outdoor courts were erected in the parking lot of the Technology Park, with a variety of age brackets, young and old, represented.
