ALAMEDA — The Raiders began preparations for their third preseason game against Dallas Tuesday with holdout left tackle Donald Penn not present for the pre-practice walkthrough.
Penn missed all of training camp in Napa in hopes of getting a signifcant raise from his scheduled salary of $5.8 million. The San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday Penn was expected back this week.
Raiders coach Jack Del Rio, asked if Penn’s continued absence is jeopardizing the left tackle’s availability for the Sept. 10 season opener, replied, “I’ll just coach the guys that are here. I’m not going to go any further on that subject.
