Purdy: At long last, Mark Davis and the Raiders have the NFL’s full attention

The posh Biltmore Hotel, onetime host to Clark Gable and JFK and Frank Sinatra, has a single celebrity on the premises who matters most this week.

That would be Mark Davis, the Raiders’ owner.

It’s been a long time coming.

For years, Davis has tried to get the National Football League’s full attention in his quest to get a new stadium built, either in Oakland or Los Angeles or Las Vegas. For years, the NFL has treated Davis politely while either focusing attention elsewhere or granting more favors to other owners. A little over a year ago when Davis was in a three-way race with the Chargers and Rams to Los Angeles, he somehow managed to finish fourth.
