Injured Raider Mario Edwards Jr. joins team in Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. — The Raiders received a package at their hotel Thursday morning. About 290 pounds. Handle with care.

Defensive end Mario Edwards Jr., nearing a return from a hip injury, joined the team in Florida. The plan is for him to run on the side at practice, but he was not seen during the media window at Thursday’s practice in Bradenton.

“I feel good he’ll be back sooner than later,” Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie said Wednesday night. “Hopefully after the bye week. He is progressing well.”

Edwards is on injured reserve and the Raiders plan to make him the one player that they are allowed to activate off that list.
