Bullpen falters after Detwiler's superb outing

Trailing 3-1 in the eighth, Springer's two-out triple off reliever Liam Hendriks gave the Astros life, and he scored when Alex Bregman reached first on a strikeout-wild pitch. Altuve delivered a game-tying triple to right, and Evan Gattis followed an intentional walk to Carlos Correa with a line-drive single to left score Altuve and put the Astros ahead.

It was a tough-luck no-decision for A's left-hander Ross Detwiler, who baffled the Astros by holding them to three hits and one run over seven innings. Astros starter Mike Fiers teetered on the brink of disaster for five innings, but he wound up allowing just three runs (one earned).
