A's Weekly: Oakland Snaps Four-Game Losing Streak

The Oakland Athletics didn't start this week the way they wanted to, but they've managed to snap their losing streak. The A's are 5-7 this year, and in fourth place in the AL West. The A's went on a four-game losing streak at the start of the week, which came on the heels of a three-game winning streak. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our A's Weekly update:

Last Week:
The Athletics started this week with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. The A's lost all three games, scoring a combined six runs.

Sonny Gray started the week with a solid outing Monday, going 6 1/3 innings. He allowed three earned runs, but that's all the Angels needed. The A's had 10 hits in the game, but left nine of those men on base in a 4-1 loss.

Tuesday's effort was better on offense, but the A's still lost 5-4. Oakland was up 4-1 entering the 8th inning, but allowed two runs in the 8th and two in the 9th to fall. Geovany Soto played hero for Los Angeles, with a two-run homer in the 9th.

The A's were swept thanks to a 5-1 loss Wednesday. The offense was non-existent, putting up just three hits. Two of those came from third baseman Danny Valencia.

Oakland continued their home stand with the first game of a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals Friday. The offense again struggled in the 4-2 loss, with the A's producing just six hits. Three of the hits came from catcher Stephen Vogt.

The A's snapped their four-game losing streak in a 5-3 win over the Royals Saturday. Gray picked up the win, going 6 innings and striking out six. RF Josh Reddick led the offense with a three-run home run in the first inning.

The Week Ahead:
The A's finish their three game series against the Royals Sunday. Chris Bassit will take the mound for Oakland.

After that, the A's embark on a nine-game road trip, with six of those games coming next week. The A's visit the New York Yankees for a three game series starting Tuesday. The Athletics then head further North to face the Toronto Blue Jays, starting on Friday. For more on the A's upcoming games, download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app
