Athletics Rumors: Korean SS Jung-Ho Kang to be posted Monday, A's favorites?

Korean shortstop Jung-Ho Kang is scheduled to be posted on Monday by the Korean Baseball Organization, per a FoxSports.com report, and is expected to draw interest from several teams including the Oakland Athletics.

Kang, 27, has major pop for a middle infielder and has spent the last seven seasons playing for the Nexen Heroes of the KBO. He posted career numbers in 2014, hitting .354 with 39 home runs, 115 RBIs while posting a 1.189 OPS in 116 games played.

While the open market for shortstops is currently very thin, several Major League Baseball scouts indicate that Kang projects as a second baseman at the MLB level. CBS Sports reported Monday that the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets join the Oakland A's in having legitimate interest in the Korean infielder.

The Oakland Athletics acquired SS Marcus Semien from the Chicago White Sox last week, so it's likely that a Kang signing could have him pushing Eric Sogard for a role as the team's everyday second baseman.
