Notre Dame Football Rumors Roundup: Latest Following Win Over USC

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are now 6-1 after a 31-21 win over the USC Trojans. The Irish have been hit hard by injuries, but they still have a chance to end up with a great season. Here are the latest Notre Dame rumors following the win over USC.

Notre Dame Up To #11

The Fighting Irish are now No. 11 in the AP Poll. Notre Dame was No. 14 the previous week. Stanford and Alabama are the only one-loss teams ahead of the Irish.

Kelly Not Revealing Redshirt Decisions

The Irish don't officially redshirt players, but the end result is still the same. If a player doesn't play a single snap in a season for Notre Dame, they have another year of eligibility. This season, Kelly isn't telling which players won't receive any playing time.

“I don’t want to take away their competitive spirit from week to week,” Kelly told NDInsider.

As many as 14 players could end up redshirting this season.

Alex Bars Out For Season

The injury issues just will not stop for Notre Dame. This time, it's guard Alex Bars. He was filling in for an injured Quinten Nelson, who was able to replace Bars when he went down. Bars' season is over, as he underwent surgery for a fractured ankle.

Brian Kelly To USC?

ND Insider floated the possibility that Kelly could leave Notre Dame for rival USC. The gist of the argument is that stranger things have happened. Still, there is no chance Kelly leaves Notre Dame for USC. That's not a lateral move, it's a downgrade.
