Notre Dame Football News: Irish bowl destination likely to be picked by random drawing

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish may very well have their destination for this bowl season chosen for them by a random drawing.

According to the News & Observer, Notre Dame's bowl fate will likely be decided by the luck of the draw:

Since there's no order to the Tier I selections, the games interested in Notre Dame will submit their names for a drawing. The bowl that wins the drawing will get to select Notre Dame ...

Notre Dame, which has lost its past four games, played in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in New York last season, so it's possible only three bowls will be in the drawing for the Irish.

Per Jerry Hinnen of CBS Sports, the Irish join Clemson, Louisville, Duke, Boston College and NC State in a pool of six teams that are currently eligible for the Russell Athletic Bowl and four "Tier I" bowls - the Belk, Pinstripe, Sun, and either the Gator or Music City Bowl.

Clemson is currently expected to be chosen by the Russell Athletic Bowl, leaving the five other teams to fight for four spots in those bowls.
