How Notre Dame Can Still Make A Top-Tier Bowl Game

In this Notre Dame football news update, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will likely take a tumble down the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday after this past Saturday's 24-point loss to Arizona State.

However, a 7-2 Notre Dame team still has plenty to play for in their final three games (at home against Northwestern and Louisville, at USC).

Per Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune, "a possible berth in one of the top-tier Dec. 31/Jan. 1 bowls (Peach, Cotton, Fiesta) is still in play for a 10-2 Irish team. Notre Dame realistically would have to climb back into the Top 10 of the CFP rankings for the final set on Dec. 7 for that to happen. Less plausible, given the SEC/Big Ten contingencies, is a date with an ACC team in the Orange Bowl."

Lose one game, and Notre Dame's most likely destinations will be either the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl (Jan. 1st vs. SEC) or the Russell Athletic Bowl (Dec. 29 vs. Big 12).

So, it's going to take an impressive three weeks from Brian Kelly's crew to give themselves a big stage to play on come the turn of the calendar.
