The first day of Big Ten Football Media Days brought some interesting Northwestern broadcasting updates. Former Northwestern defensive end Corey Wootton will be joining BTN as a color commentator and Lisa Byington will become the first woman to commentate a football game on BTN at Northwestern’s Week 3 contest against Bowling Green, network president Mark Silverman announced on Monday.

The former Northwestern standout will become an official member of Big Ten Network’s on-air broadcasting team. Wootton, who graduated in 2009 following a decorated Northwestern career and became (and has remained) the highest-drafted Northwestern player since Luis Castillo, joins Braylon Edwards and James Laurinaitis as new BTN analysts.
