The Northern Illinois started conference play with a bang.
The Huskies had a breakout performance at the plate and dominated for a 16-2 win at Toledo in the open Mid-American Conference play on Friday night.
Northern Illinois entered the day with a 4-16 record before exploding for 17 hits in the win over the Rockets. Jesus Tovar and Tommy Szczasny each blasted home runs in the victory.
The Huskies scored five runs in both the fifth and ninth innings and Joe Hawks picked up the win for Northern Illinois.
