NIU football: Opposed to previous weeks, Huskie defense looks strong, offense struggles in loss to Central Michigan

DeKALB – If it's not one thing, it's another.

The Northern Illinois defense put together its best performance of the season in the first three quarters, but the Huskies' recently solid offense struggled early before they lost a wild, mistake-filled 34-28 game against Central Michigan on Saturday in DeKalb.

The Huskies are now 1-9 in their last 10 games, including four straight at Huskie Stadium.

While the Huskie defense came into the game near the bottom of the conference in many categories, they held the Chippewas to 14 points and 246 yards through three quarters. They also had as many takeaways – three – against Central Michigan as they had in the previous six games.
