PALOS VERDES, Cali – Lexi Harkins posted a 3-under-par 68 to lead the Tar Heels to a 4-over-par 288 first round performance at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. Harkin’s performance is a collegiate best.
Harkins had six birdies to go with three birdies to post the 3-under-par score. Harkins posted a 33 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine. Kelly Whaley also came through with a strong even par round. Whaley was consistent throughout the day with two birdies and two bogeys. Senior Elizabeth Mallet shot a 2-over-par 73 with one birdie and three bogeys.
